concept design academy

He shares every tidbit from his experience at FZD and offers an honest take on what it’s like attending as a new student. Though this school is located in Singapore, many find it worth relocating because it produces such incredible, industry-ready artists that have an edge over the competition. Plus it’s only a one year program so it’s not a lengthy commitment. This famous school specializes in concept art and their program is only a year long, so this is an excellent choice is you’re ready to go all-in on your concept art dreams. Having a solid foundation and learning in the right order makes a big difference in the training for a starting artist. A - Even though designing for animation, games or film can be a very rewarding career, it is also very hard work that requires a lot of training and dedication to be competitive in the field.

ArtCenter

You can see previews of the exercises and how the learning process works. Unlike the other tracks, the game design track covers programming which will be useful if you’re interested in the whole pipeline of game development. Many studios also specifically look for graduates from schools with track records of turning out strong artists. However, a lot of working artists in the field have a degree in a relevant field like fine arts, illustration, graphic design, or film. Some studios will specifically look for potential hires with degrees, and others won’t care.

#114 7:00 PM - 11:00 PM (4 hrs)  Cinematic Storyboard with Phil Langone / $860

But remember, the vast majority of studios do not care how you get good. Accreditation means that your credits and degree will be recognized at other schools, should you decide to transfer to another college or university. Keep in mind that different schools have different graduation requirements, so some credits may not transfer even if you did go to an accredited school.

[TUESDAY] ONLINE CLASSES (ZOOM)

Learning to design amazing work within the constraints of a project is a crucial skill to develop. Each week is a new pre-recorded lecture that students will watch and then submit homework for review. For those who can attend there is also a weekly Q & A session (1 hour) to provide further explanations to the weekly topic. A - For students who wish to visit our school or meet with our staff, we recommend to e-mail us first at to make a visiting appointment before stopping by.

Business and art direction courses are included, and students finish off their degree with a senior project. We’ve identified some of the top schools for concept art in the world. This fundamental class focuses on the basics of set dressing, perspective & composition for both on-site sketching and from imagination.

This is also a nice option if you already have a degree and want to build some new skills to further your education or make a career change. In many cases the entertainment industry cares more about your portfolio and experience than an accredited degree, and this school will definitely give you a killer portfolio. Students learn how to handle big projects on their own and how to present their work during a job interview.

It is not very uncommon for students to retake a class 2~3 times to fully adsorb the contents taught. At CDA, we ask all students who are taking the intro or intermediate design classes to treat their time in class as a job internship. Alumni currently work in companies such as Dreamworks and Arkane Studios, and were concept artists on projects like Ghost in the Shell, Call of Duty, Red Sparrow, Star Wars Battlefront, and many others. The first term is all about the fundamentals and focuses on sketching, visual communication concepts, elements and principles of art & design, working with digital programs, and general studio time. A good concept art program will give you a solid, well-rounded education in the skills you’ll need as a concept artist and will help you build a strong portfolio. Additionally, many aspiring concept artists appreciate the structure and accountability that comes with the classroom.

CDA WEBSITES

Concept Design Academy will help you develop a rock-solid portfolio and you’ll likely meet some great people along the way. You can actually find a really great list on their curriculum page or contact the school directly if you want to get more details on anything. The year-long program is broken into 3 trimesters of 15 weeks each, with two weeks of break in between.

FZD requires a portfolio, an interview process, professional recommendation letters, a test, and applicants are required to be deemed mentally and physically well enough to attempt the program. Accreditation statuses and requirements change, so if you are concerned about your credits or degree being recognized by other schools makes sure to check with each school’s admissions office. Most game studios that care about traditional degrees will prefer that your degree come from an accredited university.

concept design academy

We have a strict policy for no sit-in's for all of our classes and do not accept unscheduled walk in's for classroom tours or portfolio reviews. A - Our "Foundation", "Intermediate Design", "Digital classes" & "Monthly Workshops" are open to everyone without portfolio review. So instead of taking a bunch of different classes in different subjects, students take one big course that covers all the necessary elements on a week-by-week schedule. Students begin with studies in concept sketching, anatomy, and visual communications, then move into more specific instructions related to specialties in concept art.

A - The more limited you are with budget, the more focused you need to be with your training and know what is your first career goal (first step). Payment plans are available for all courses so you can pay upfront or on a monthly schedule. And it should be mentioned that every single mentor that teaches for CG Spectrum has industry experience.

Accreditation means that a school has been evaluated by a review board and is deemed to be a high quality education experience. And perhaps the biggest benefit of art school is the connections you make along the way. Dynamic 1 is an 8-week course focussing on the fundamentals needed for observation and design. Working on you line weight, control and confidence are emphasized via weekly exercises and homework. This pattern of submitting drafts and receiving critiques mimics the structure of most industry projects too. So after each lesson the students complete a first pass of the assignment and submit it to their mentor for feedback.

Third term students narrow their focus and start building their professional portfolios. This is where artists really develop their style and skills in design presentation. The illustration and visual development programs both focus on art foundations, tools and techniques, presentation ability, and creative skills on working within a client’s specifications.

It’s a fantastic school for developing art skills and getting your name out there. Academy of Art University offers several programs in art and design, but the best choices for aspiring concept artists are their Illustration program and their Visual Development program. All three of these programs cover digital art and concept design so any would be an excellent choice for aspiring concept artists, just depending on their career aspirations.

Whether you decide to attend school for formal education in concept art is entirely up to you. It’s definitely an investment, and only you can decide if that investment is right for you. Many artists choose to pursue a degree or diploma program just to expand their options. Once your drawing, painting and design foundations are strong, it will be easier and faster to adapt to various pipelines and industries. Bad foundations will make everything you design look amateurish and unusable for portfolio.

Most class sessions will meet on locations to study architecture, human space design, scale, weathering, and natural foliage/ landscape structures. This is a great class for beginners and intermediate students who wish to improve their drawing abilities before enrolling into the Environment Design course. A - Each class at CDA is packed with information that the instructors have learned through years of production experience.

margaritaville cruise ship

The Margaritaville at Sea Paradise is your easy-breezy resort at sea, with visual accents that inspire adventure. The ship’s inviting atmosphere is filled with music, lights, island-inspired sculptures, artwork, and more. Lovers of non-stop entertainment can enjoy the Margaritaville Casino, Stars on the Water Theater, and various nightclubs while wellness-enthusiasts can stop by the St. Somewhere Spa & Salon or Fins Up! Convenient Port Canaveral “Park & Cruise” Hotels

Margaritaville at Sea Islander is a completely new way to float into an island state of mind, where the journey is as much fun as the destination. One thing we found extremely appealing, especially for new cruisers, is that Margaritaville at Sea Paradise has no real dress code. It's fun to watch people feeling their own 'fits -- some people dressed to impress for the club, while others kept it chill. Getting from one end of the ship to another can also be confusing, particularly on the upper decks, where there is no real through access without taking various staircases.

KEEP THE PARTY GOING: A Tribute To Jimmy Buffett

The heart of the ship will be the 14-story Flip Flop Atrium, featuring a giant flip flop sculpture at the base, multi-story floating margarita glass chandeliers, a bar and a full-stage LED screen. The ship will also have a spa and fitness center, casino, live music enclaves, such as the Six String outdoor live music stage, two-story nightclub and four outdoor pool zones. The Margaritaville at Sea Paradise is the only 3-day and 2-night cruise sailing from the Port of Palm Beach to Freeport, Grand Bahama Island. On our resort at sea, you can relax, unwind, enjoy endless entertainment, and soak up the fun in casual-luxe comfort. Margaritaville at Sea is your new off-shore resort experience, sailing from Palm Beach and Tampa to Grand Bahama Island, Mexico and Key West. There will be no shortages of places to eat and drink on Margaritaville at Sea. A standout all-new venue is the three-story Landshark Bar which will take center stage on the pool deck. It will have two decks of shaded and seated bar areas topped by The Lookout, a terrace with 360-degree outdoor views. The 2,650-passenger ship was first launched in 2000 as Costa Cruises' Costa Atlantica, and is undergoing extensive refurbishment at the Harland & Wolff Shipyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland, ahead of its inaugural sailing in June 2024. Indulge in casual bites and late-night delights, or dine in elegance at one of our specialty restaurants.

American Airlines Adding More Flights as Cayman Islands Travel Demand Surges

Located on the upper floor of Fins Dining Room is the new Islander Dining Room serving chef-crafted seasonal specialties in addition to the main restaurant menu. From flexible, island-inspired venues to personalized entertainment schedules and dedicated onboard programming, Margaritaville at Sea offers a unique Bahamas getaway perfect for any business or leisure group. With visual accents that inspire adventure, the ship’s inviting atmosphere will be filled with music, lights, island-inspired sculptures, artwork, scents of the tropics, and more. Lovers of non-stop entertainment will enjoy the Par-A-Dice Casino, Stars on the Water Theater, and various nightclubs while wellness-enthusiasts can stop by the St. Somewhere Spa or Fins Up!

“To me, the only thing better than being on a beach by the ocean, is to be on the ocean. The new ship will offer two-night, round-trip voyages to the island of Grand Bahama in The Bahamas. The first cruise on the ship will be a VIP sailing on May 12, following the inaugural cruise on May 14. It’s called Margaritaville at Sea, and the brand’s new Margaritaville at Sea Paradise cruise ship officially launched this week. Margaritaville at Sea is an exciting new cruise line currently featuring two ships, the Islander and the Paradise. The Paradise is currently sailing and the Islander is scheduled to make its inaugural voyage in June 2024.

Picturesque Ocean View Staterooms

But I can also see where having too much Buffett make alienate newer cruisers and -- let's face it -- younger and more diverse passengers. The classic Buffett audience is aging; Jimmy's songs may seem timeless, but most were released in the 1970s. Far smarter to focus on margaritas and parrots and palm trees, and keep the yacht rock to a minimum. We were surprised to learn on our 2022 sailing that the Margaritaville at Sea appeal goes far beyond Parrotheads, as Jimmy Buffett's fans are called. Nearly 60% of the passengers on a typical Margaritaville at Sea sailing are taking their first cruise ever, we were told, and the vast majority of them have only a passing knowledge of Buffett. We noticed this particularly during the evening show, a jukebox musical of Buffett hits written by Jimmy himself.

With pools, a retail store, and so much more, there is something for everyone. So on a two-night cruise, a couple sailing would pay about $60 in gratuities. Guests staying in one of the suites onboard will see a charge of $19.95 per person, per night. Margaritaville at Sea Islander's inaugural voyage will take place on June 14, 2024. The sailing will consist of a four-night itinerary from Tampa featuring a stop in Cozumel and two sea days. Margaritaville at Sea Islander's 1,105 cabins offer a range of four categories -- interior, oceanview, balcony and suite -- and 11 subcategories, including four types of balcony staterooms and three types of suites.

Enjoy fine wines, craft beers or a cold LandShark at one of our signature bars, or relax in style while you listen to the music and sip refreshing cocktails in one of our uniquely themed lounges. Your stateroom aboard Margaritaville at Sea Paradise is your private retreat – every room is designed with a laid-back luxury vibe. Choose your perfect room, whether it be an Interior, Oceanview, Junior Suite, or Grand Terrace Suite, and let the journey begin. Between the first three-story Landshark Bar, the thoughtfully eclectic Hemisphere Dancer Craft Spirits, the adult-only Tiki Bar or any of the other 13 bars and lounges available, you'll never go thirsty abord the Islander.

Our cruise offers are an irresistible opportunity to get a great deal on your next Caribbean escape. Whether you want to wind down, stop by the spa, chill by the pool, or kick back in your stateroom, every second aboard Margaritaville at Sea is a chance for adventure.

The ship did not have any LGBTQ or solo meetups, but there is a daily meeting for Friends of Bill W. That being said, on a cruise this short, where you're in port for one of the two days, you're not spending much time in your room anyway. Which is good, because only 10 rooms on the entire ship come with a balcony. Even junior suites only have portholes; you have to book a Grand Terrace Suite if you want outdoor real estate.

The main venue for little cruisers will be the Caribbean Amphibian Splash and Slide pool. Located on the top deck, the area will feature an elevated play space, water slide and splash-and-spray zone designed like a lily pad. Our full-service spa and salon offers treatments of all kinds and caters to both men and women. Using the latest state-of-the-art techniques, our talented team will provide you with a personalized experience of ultimate relaxation. Set your flip flops free aboard the Margaritaville at Sea Islander with packages and upgrades especially designed to maximize your chill. On these two-day sailings, the ship draws a diverse passenger base that goes far beyond Jimmy Buffett fans, reaching all ages and demographics.

The included Fins dining room reminded us of the main dining room on any cruise ship, with enough options to satisfy a variety of tastes. The ship will call in three destinations -- Key West, Progreso and Cozumel. The ship's four-night itineraries will only call in Cozumel with two days at sea. The five-night sailings will feature two ports of call, with options including Key West and Progreso, Key West and Cozumel or Progreso and Cozumel.

One of those itineraries is the 15-night Malta, Morocco and the Mediterranean cruise, sailing round-trip from Barcelona. The newly added itinerary lends itself to days of lingering longer to explore ports like Marseille, France, Valletta, Malta, Casablanca, Morocco and plenty more. Complimentary shore excursions are included with each Viking cruise; on the itinerary, guests can choose from excursions like a panoramic tour of Corsica, sightseeing in Rome and Algiers, and a walking tour of Málaga, to name a few. Couples who want some alone time can also choose to wander off together and find their own way to spend each day. Back onboard Viking Saturn, relax in your spacious cabin, enjoy a cultural performance, enjoy a wine pairing dinner at the Chef’s Table, or enroll in a cooking class to learn how to take the flavors of the Mediterranean back home with you.

Do you need a passport to take a cruise to the Mediterranean?

Cruisers can opt for the kayak and walking adventure in Valletta, where they can meander through farms, woodlands, and even Neolithic tombs before setting out in a kayak to paddle along the rugged coastline. Or, paddle a kayak along Corsica’s coastline to Trottel Beach, where you can relax under the warm sun, walk in the sand and swim in the clear water. In Sardinia, ride a 4x4 into the wetlands and oak forests before dismounting for a hike in the island wilderness. Onboard, the Celebrity Ascent keeps active guests engaged with its fitness center, activities and entertainment, and fueled for more activity with 32 restaurants, bars and lounges.

The kids will also delight in the ship’s 765-foot AquaDuck water coaster themed on Donald and friends. The Mediterranean Sea touches 22 nations and borders more than 28,000 miles of coastline, according to the Europe Environment Agency. From the Greek Islands to Egypt, Croatia to Morocco, and Slovenia to Spain, the rugged coastlines dip into the crystalline waters, providing a connection point to some of the most intriguing destinations on the planet. Best Things To Do in Athens, Greece, on Your Cruise Vacation

Walk past temples and marble-lined sanctuaries in Delos, the birthplace of famous Greek gods. Or soak up a day of relaxation on the beach with the city’s Cycladic architecture as your backdrop — all on a Greek cruise with Princess. Kotor is enrobed in ancient houses, palaces and churches that speak to its 12th-century origins. On a Greek cruise, dine on Montenegrin cuisine in the home of a local chef, appreciate 14th-century Venetian art at St. Tryphon’s Cathedral and taste regional wines along the riviera. Or see another side of the city when you kayak through the tunnels of Lipa Cave. The best Mediterranean cruises offer you the opportunity to explore the charming, ancient harbors of Italy, Greece and Croatia.

These top things to do onboard this beloved cruise ship make it a fan favorite for many. Here's everything you need to know about visiting Loch Ness on Scotland vacations, including its history, how to get there, and the best things to do. Stroll around Italy's enchanting small alleys, gracious palaces and photogenic squares. See Rome's impressive Colosseum and the rest of Italy's breathtaking capital. Marvel at the colourful buildings in Venice during a gondola ride through the canals and visit Florence's extraordinary Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore.

In port, expect family-focused excursions, such as a performance of traditional Italian puppetry in Rome or a “treasure hunt” in an open-air architectural museum in Barcelona. Classic, elegant, and forever in style, Cunard Line is the cruise to choose if chicness is your top priority. Its boats are decked out in luxurious styling, including the Queen Elizabeth, which makes its way through the Med with art deco decor, plush sundeck furnishings, and high-end dining experiences included. Of course, North Americans taking Mediterranean cruise vacations will need a passport to fly to and from their ship's departure and arrival ports. However, for vacationers who want all the attractions without the hassle, a cruise is an ideal way to explore the Mediterranean.

Mediterranean cultures love kids, too, and children are welcomed everywhere. In Portugal, experience the spectacular medieval architecture in Lisbon and taste a variety of Port wines in Porto. Explore our port of call in Italy, Trieste, and its ancient architecture, lively cultural scene, and Venetian-inspired coffeehouses. Each itinerary features one to two “formal” nights that we call Evening Chic.

Savor the flavors of “Koum Kouat” liqueur, created from Corfu’s exclusive citrus plant. Or stroll along the streets of Dubrovnik’s Old town, one of the most well-preserved medieval cities in the world. Norwegian’s itineraries have been designed to provide you the opportunity to explore the Mediterranean just the way you want to.

For centuries, Mediterranean ports have been gateways to some of the oldest cities of Europe, and today you can take advantage of them, and enjoy the treasures of each destination. Cruise Critic is not a booking agent and does not charge any service fees to users of our site. When you book with one of our partners, please be sure to check their site for a full disclosure of all applicable fees as required by the U.S. From destination-intensive 7-night cruises to 12-night explorations across this historic region, Celebrity has the best Mediterranean cruise for you.

Visit beautiful seaside towns like Portofino, explore the Venetian canals, and enjoy the ship's amenities during days at sea. The 10-day trip takes sailors through ultra-luxe ports, including visits to Monte Carlo, Saint-Tropez, Florence, Rome, Valletta, Rhodes, and Athens. From the old villages to the glittering casinos, the shore excursions with this journey abound. Though there’s plenty to do onboard too, including wine tastings, guest lectures, and fun-filled trivia nights with fellow guests.

Or walk in the footsteps of celebrated artists that called these regions home — like Picasso and Dali — and allow their work to spark your creativity. With mouthwatering entrees and confections, the Mediterranean invites you to embark on a gourmet tour through iconic cities. Reawaken your taste buds with Italian classics like pastas, pizzas and gelato. Or fill your plate with gyros, keftethes and baklava on a Greek cruise.

Celebrity Edge: Deck Plan & Amenities

celebrity x cruise

Celebrity Xcel will enter service in 2025 ,and the maiden voyage will be a seven-night Caribbean itinerary departing from Fort Lauderdale in that November. Unlike Royal Caribbean, Carnival, MSC Cruises and Norwegian, Celebrity doesn't load up the top of its ships with sprawling waterparks, go-kart tracks, laser tag courses and other flashy, family-focused diversions. During the winter, the line will move most of its ships to the Caribbean, but also send a few to Asia, Australia and South America. Celebrity's Solstice Class and Millennium Class ships are even smaller at around 122,000 tons and 91,000 tons, respectively. Explore the islands that inspired Darwin’s theory of evolution all while immersed in unique luxury. The Penthouse Suite lets you explore the islands that inspired Darwin’s theory of evolution while you’re immersed in luxury.

All vessels operate on a "cashless system," with any onboard purchases you make posting automatically to your onboard account. Celebrity allows you to bring two bottles of wine per cabin onto ships at boarding at no charge (for consuming in your room; you'll be charged a $15 corkage fee if you want to bring it to an onboard restaurant or bar to drink). While the free programming for children ages 3-12 ends at 10 p.m., you can pay extra to leave your kids at shipboard Camp at Sea centers past 10 p.m. For a supervised "slumber party." This is essentially a group kid-sitting service.

For men, evening chic nights could mean pants or designer jeans with a dress shirt, button-down shirt or sweater. If you're a U.S. citizen, you don't need a passport for many sailings out of U.S. ports (including sailings to Alaska, Bermuda, Canada, Hawaii and Mexico, and most sailings to the Caribbean). Instead, you can travel with an official copy of your birth certificate and a driver's license or other government-issued photo identification. A few other forms of identification, such as a passport card, also are acceptable.

I spent 7 nights in a 200-square-foot room on Celebrity’s newest cruise ship. Take a look inside my cabin

In 2020, Celebrity launched a new program called Power Up Points that let Captain's Club members get bonus points by filling out online surveys, participating on social media or booking specific promotions. Celebrity has a point-based frequent cruiser program, the Captain's Club, that has six tiers, ranging from Preview (at 0 points) to Zenith (3,000 points or more). During the evenings, most nights are designated as "smart casual" nights, which means that — in restaurants and the theater, at least — a T-shirt and shorts won't do. But to Celebrity, smart casual doesn't mean anything fancier than pants or jeans with a short-sleeve sport shirt for men, and a skirt, pants or jeans with a casual top for women. If it's a sea day in a warm-weather destination, and you're bound for the top deck, that means looking like you're going to the beach — T-shirts, shorts and bathing suits (with a cover-up to go inside) are just fine.

Celebrity ships are also known for their martini bars, each called — simply enough — the Martini Bar. Another standout feature of Celebrity ship interiors is a wine-focused venue called Cellar Masters that stocks more than 400 wines for tastings. A particularly cool feature of the Cellar Masters venues is that they have self-serve Enomatic wine dispensers.

On many ships, you'll find the line's signature Italian restaurant, Tuscan Grille. It serves up handmade pasta, artisanal meats, flatbread pizzas, seafood and other Italian specialties in an elegant setting and comes with a flat fee of $30 per person. Another included-in-the-fare option found on Celebrity ships is the deck-top Mast Grill, which serves burgers, hot dogs and the like.

The 16-passenger boat offers eight cabins, indoor and outdoor dining areas, two bars, a lounge and a sun deck Jacuzzi. Elite Plus kicks things up by offering additional discounts for onboard services (including a 15% discount on specialty dining cover charges); and free cappuccinos, lattes, espresso and tea throughout your sailing. Two nights a week on seven-night sailings, Celebrity upgrades the dress code to "evening chic," which is a new take on the old cruise ship formal night that is a lot less formal. The line says women should feel comfortable wearing a cocktail dress, or a skirt, pants or designer jeans with an elegant top.

Flight price is per person in GBP or EURO as stated and determined by eligible gateways booked and selected dates of travel. Standard personal baggage allowance is included in the reduced airfare (baggage allowance can vary by airline). Airport ground transfers and any additional expenses (e.g. accommodation, taxis, fuel, meals, gratuities, excess baggage, or parking) are not included, and will be at the guest’s sole cost and expense. Airline booking and travel terms and conditions, and standard baggage allowances apply to all bookings. Airfare pricing shall be correct at time of publication or going to print, but shall be subject to availability, and may vary during the promotion.

It will let you surf the web, send messages and use social media apps (but not stream video). A much faster option called Xcelerate that allows for video streaming and video chats is available for an extra charge. Every Celebrity vessel also has a casual buffet eatery where meals are included in the fare.

The space can be configured for everything from late-night comedy shows and movie showings to cooking demonstrations and trivia contests. Soaring three decks high and lined with glass walls, the Eden venue on each of the ships comes alive at night with a bar that serves up unusual concoctions. It also offers a place to relax or grab a quick bite during the day in a garden-like setting with stunning views of the ocean. On a typical night, you might find a flashy, fast-paced production show playing in the main theater, a comedian performing in a secondary lounge and live music on offer in several more venues. Notably, the top of the glass walls in the infinite veranda cabins slide down at the flick of a switch to create a balcony-like area — an innovation that, until recently, had only been seen with cabins on river cruise ships.

Further, some staterooms are outfitted with trundle beds, pull-down bunks or sofa beds that can accommodate up to four people per room. Although all of the ships' staterooms fall into the same general categories – insides, oceanviews, balconies and suites – the specific types of each vary across classes, particularly with regard to the most expensive options. These itineraries have something for every type of traveler—from our return to South America and Antarctica to more overnight stays in Europe that give you the opportunity to experience the nightlife of amazing cities like a local. We’re sailing to The Last Frontier with three incredible ships, including Celebrity Edge®, and we’ll have four Edge® Series ships sailing the Caribbean from Florida, with our first Edge Series ship sailing from Miami year-round. We’re also returning to the Caribbean’s most exclusive destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s award-winning private island destination.

The balcony-like area can be closed off from the rest of the cabin by closing bifold doors. The newest group of ships in the line is the Edge Class, consisting of just three vessels that have been unveiled since 2018 — each holding around 3,000 passengers. If you're in the "newer is better" camp when it comes to cruise ships, this is the Celebrity ship class for you. Still, for now at least, Celebrity ships are firmly anchored in the mass-market category.

Billed as an industry first, the new glass-walled cabins were made possible by a rethinking of the way the load-bearing walls of cruise ships are constructed. In general, Celebrity offers a lot more high-end accommodations on its ships than some of its rival lines — particularly Princess. Among the line's itineraries, you'll find everything from two-night sampler cruises to the Bahamas to 18-night voyages to Hawaii and the South Pacific. Celebrity isn't known for the sort of longer, multi-month voyages and around-the-world sailings that are a hallmark of the Princess and Holland America schedules. All of Celebrity's 12 main ships carry around 2,000 to 3,000 passengers apiece, based on double occupancy. That's several thousand passengers fewer than the biggest ships at Royal Caribbean, Norwegian and MSC Cruises.

As with any of our cruises, we all decided to arrive the day before just in case of any flight delays. We stayed at Marriott Vacation Club Pulse, South Beach which was both affordable and conveniently located. Choose from our uncanny resort deck, one of a kind lawn club, or chic rooftop terrace.

Pro: Food on the Celebrity Summit

While not huge with families with young children, Celebrity does draw a fair number of multigenerational family groups. It's one of the lines you take if you want an affordable ship that will appeal to your 70-year-old parents as much as your 12-year-old kid. Unlike Royal Caribbean, Carnival, MSC Cruises and Norwegian, Celebrity doesn't load up the top of its ships with sprawling waterparks, go-kart tracks, laser tag courses and other flashy, family-focused diversions.

Suites on Celebrity ships

Travelers can now opt for more frequent 6- to 7-night cruises aboard the Celebrity Constellation. This expanded program includes 4 new itineraries and a total of 14 sailings, spanning from January 2nd, 2025, to April 6th, 2025. The itineraries encompass destinations like Belize, Honduras, Key West, Mexico, and New Orleans (Port NOLA) during the Mardi Gras festivities scheduled for March 1st, 2025. Celebrity Millennium is homeported in Yokohama/Tokyo Japan in 2024 (April thru October) to sail 12-night roundtrip itineraries featuring overnights in Osaka.

Further, some staterooms are outfitted with trundle beds, pull-down bunks or sofa beds that can accommodate up to four people per room. All cabins also come with the services of a room attendant, who will tidy your digs up to two times daily. All passengers also have access to 24-hour room service, which carries a fee of $9.95 per order, plus an 18% auto-gratuity. The state-of-the-art terminal at the Port of Miami is designed to quickly move people through check-in and onto the ship. The port is located less than 10 miles from Miami International Airport. Taxi services, rideshares, shuttles, and limousine services are available to take you to the cruise port.

How to earn Captain’s Club points

Celebrity Cruises delivers an elevated premium vacation experience across our fleet of ships traveling to nearly 300 destinations across more than 70 countries spanning all seven continents. With every detail elevated beyond expectations, you will never want to vacation any other way. An industry pioneer for 35 years, each Celebrity vacation offers experiences you won’t find anywhere else aboard ships which continue to shatter industry expectations with the highly anticipated Celebrity Xcel arriving Fall 2025. Celebrity is one of the best big-ship cruise brands when it comes to everything from service and extras to in-cabin storage space, decor and even furniture layout.

Top Things to Do on an International Date Line Cruise

Points are earned based on the category of your cabin (larger more expensive cabins earn more points) and the length of your cruise. For example, you could earn anywhere from two to 24 points per night just based on the suite you book. “My stateroom, 9164, was a Sky Suite, with a king bed facing a private terrace and a clever roll-open mirror that let natural light into the spacious bathroom. We were sailing with only adults and loved the vibe and level of entertainment on the ship. I think if you were sailing with young children and were looking for a very kid-friendly experience you probably would be disappointed. Boarding the Celebrity Summit was one of the most seamless boarding experiences that I’ve had.

As you might expect, pricing for ships generally will be lower during offseason periods such as September, October, November (not including Thanksgiving week) and parts of December. You can end up paying considerably more for a cabin during peak summer months or over the winter holidays. Cabins with ocean views on the same sailings start at $999 per person, and cabins with balconies on the same sailings will set you back at least $1,249 per person. Indeed, a Celebrity passenger staying in suites on relatively long sailings could hit the Elite level in just a few cruises.

Every Celebrity ship also has a casino and spas are big on Celebrity ships. In many cases, the main theaters on Celebrity ships are quite elaborate, with Broadway-level lighting and special effects, and the productions housed within the theaters are elaborate, too. Celebrity's newest ship, Celebrity Beyond, has its very own Daniel Boulud restaurant called Le Voyage. The line's three small Galápagos-based vessels never leave the region, in keeping with rules governing cruise vessels in The Galápagos.

What to Know About All 16 Ships in the Celebrity Cruises Fleet

Cruise fare, other add-ons & amenities including, but not limited to, gratuities, hotels, car park charges and transfers are not included and will not be reduced as part of the Reduced Flights to Europe promotion. Applicable cabin grades for this promotion are Economy Class seats, subject to availability.

That's nearly 40% smaller than the biggest ships operated by Royal Caribbean. For most Celebrity sailings, proof of vaccination against COVID or a negative test aren’t required. There are a few exceptions when traveling to destinations with strict regulations, so check with Celebrity before booking to find out.

For a supervised "slumber party." This is essentially a group kid-sitting service. While Celebrity operates relatively big ships, it has eschewed the "amusement park arms race" that has been taking place between many of the lines operating big, resort-like ships. In all, the Edge Class spas offer more than 120 different treatments, including acupuncture and salt stone therapy.

Feres on the Goop-themed voyages start from US$750 pp with double occupancy. Operating relatively big but not giant vessels, Celebrity offers an elegant, stylish product at a not-too-crazy-high price. While it often markets itself as a "luxury" product, that's not really the case. However, it stands out among the mass-market lines for many of its upscale touches, from the many spacious suites on its ships and its impressive shipboard spas to its new, more all-inclusive fare structure. Once on board a Celebrity ship, you'll pay extra for some things — but not as many things as you might think.

This 22-year-old Celebrity ship offers a more refined, subdued atmosphere compared to the line’s newer ships, which boast flashier features like the Magic Carpet. The Rooftop Terrace area serves as a restaurant, bar, and outdoor movie theater, complete with cozy furnishings coupled with mouthwatering bites and sips. Meanwhile, the adults-only Persian Garden area in the spa is ideal for wellness-seeking cruisers.

Coverage is up to $25,000 for Accident or Sickness Medical Expenses, up to $50,000 for Emergency Evacuation and up to $25,000 for Repatriation. When you’re in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for magnificent sea life. In fact, the waters near the Aleutian Islands are home to the biggest population of orcas in all of the Pacific. For private transportation, taxis and rideshares are popular ways to get around Miami. Make sure you’re hailing a licensed taxi, which should have written that it’s a taxi cab on the side of the car and display the license for the driver and the taxi’s rate card inside the vehicle.
